cheng yi san bao qi zheng fa miao an mi dian ge pai shan cun shi zhu zong
bing fu jiu pin kai fa zang guan hu fa men yi zu he shou nai shi jiao
The first line of the couplet by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Wan Ko Yeshe Norbu is “cheng yi san bao qi zheng fa miao an mi dian ge pai shan cun shi zhu zong.” Its general meaning is as follows. Following the Buddhas, the dharma, and the sangha (i.e. the Three Jewels), Hua Zang Si carries on the lineage of correct and orthodox Buddhism and the profound teachings of Vajrayana school. The temple does not hold any extreme or biased views concerning the various sects of Buddhism. It carries on the holy teachings of all sects within Buddhism, treating all living beings equally. Our temple upholds all correct and authentic Buddha-dharma.
The second line of the couplet is “bing fu jiu pin kai fa zang guan hu fa men yi zu he shou nai shi jiao.” Its basic meaning is as follows. One of the dharma methods of our temple is the teaching of the Buddha relating to rebirth in one of the nine levels of the Pure Land. However, our temple teaches a variety of different dharma methods. No matter what the particular dharma may be, it must be taught in accordance with the principles of the Tripitaka. We treat people from the various schools of Buddhism and people of all ethnicities with benevolence, gentleness, kindness, and compassion. Our temple belongs to the school of Shakyamuni Buddha, and we accept those who wish to take refuge in the Four Jewels.
