KNOW THE TRUE DOCTRINE
Identifying Dakinis
When discussing saints many people are confused or misunderstand. They take the fake as the real, such as mistaking a deva for a saint, or a person who performs miracles as a saint. They also deem the good writer as a saint. As a matter of fact, these examples are of common human beings who are mistakenly treated as saints. This is quite a problem. The true Saint Norbu is one who is the reincarnation of a buddha or a bodhisattva that is out of reincarnation [not bound to the cycle of life and death, but who voluntarily returns or reincarnates] with the sole intent of liberating all sentient beings. For example, Vajrayoginis and dakinis are called saints. The accumulation of negative karma from the beginningless time and the accompanying ignorance prevent people from recognizing true bodhisattvas, such as Dadenpas and Panditas, while accepting false ones. Specifically, there are many common people who call themselves buddhas, Great Rinpoches, Dakinis, the Lakshamikaras, etc. Some mad people call themselves the Vajravarahi (Dorje Phagmo or Pa Mu) or even Shakyamuni himself! How could anyone make verification of these claims when they lack the eyes of wisdom? Therefore, since the beginning of Buddhism there have been guidelines and rules for verification. The true dakinis and rinpoches must possess full knowledge of the Sutras and the related commentaries. They must attain the realization of Emptiness or the wisdom eye. Minimally, they must fully understand Prajnaparamita or Vinayapitaka. Because they are to represent the wisdom, especially the dakinis, they are actually the first Prajnaparamita. If they do not possess understanding and are unable to write books about the true meaning of Prajnaparamita or Vinayapitaka, how can they be an incarnation of a dakini? Therefore, the verification of the dakinis should be to see whether they have written on the five doctrines or some of them and construe the meaning of the law in a correct manner. One cannot judge only by the image, dreaming, reputation, mysteries, and human selected dakini-elect child, or a self-named dakini.
Briefly, the dakini should be identified by the following seven conditions:
An incarnation of a Vajravarahi or dakini can be distinguished from a common noble woman. Without meeting the above seven criteria, one cannot be recognized as a Female Bodhisattva or a dakini. Therefore, it is written in the sutras as follows: A dakini's true nature is wisdom. But how can she be considered a true dakini, if she has no writings? As it is said, a true saint or dakini must be examined by the seven criteria, or minimally, must not lack the first four criteria, especially the fourth criteria. If sprayed with the Vajravarahi's Nectar, one's beard can grow up to the length of one's body. If she is not Vajravarahi, how can the power be so mysterious? Otherwise, she must be just a clever, ordinary woman.
Recognizing a rinpoche must be done based on his or her complete understanding of the sutra and tantra, the Five Vidyas, the tradition of Inner Tantra Empowerments, and the realization of all phenomena. One must also attain one or two of the five Inner Tantra Empowerments, and bless with all the activities of the Mandala. The qualities of three continents must be possessed. All the sutra and tantra Dharma teachings must be based upon bodhisattva compassion. One must not detach from the moral rules (vows), concentration and wisdom, the four immeasurables and six Paramitas, and the secret meanings of the four yogas. A true rinpoche emphasizes the Inner Tantra Empowerments, by which one will benefit all living beings. Don't treat a human selected Rinpoche-Elect child as a reincarnated rinpoche.
It is hoped that all the practitioners of tantra never believe the words of false rinpoches and dakinis, and that they will use this book to investigate and verify the true saint. This is the only way of natural yogic Dharma by which we can attain liberation from samsara, the path pervading the three realms, and beyond that, the Buddha Realm.
All the virtues of printing this book are dedicated to all the beings.
May all beings hear the true Dharma and practice till realization.
