WHAT? Ven. Zhaxi Zhuoma Rinpoche will conduct a free meditation class featuring a recent translation of a sutra by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III entitled "A Monk Expounds the Absolute Truth to a Layperson." This sutra, written by His Holiness when He was only twenty years old for the abbot at one of ChinaÕs largest Buddhist temples, expounds the principles of meditation in a concise and profound way. This is a rare treasure that should not be missed. The rinpoche, who is president of the Xuanfa Institute of California, will also provide basic meditation instructions and insight into the context for meditation practice within the teachings of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. She will explain what His Holiness meant when she was told ÒLearning meditation is not just about learning techniquesÓ and ÒMeditation is our real work.Ó She will also introduce the forthcoming work by His Holiness entitled The Mahamudra of Liberation and some of the amazing dharmas that are part of that transmission including the tummo dharma that can eliminate diseases and obstructions and the crown opening dharmas that can enable recipients to ascend to higher realms.
