The Xuanfa Institute
The Xuanfa Institute is a nonprofit, international organization founded by Ven. Zhaxi Zhuoma Rinpoche to propagate the true dharma that liberates living beings through the use of the three vehicles established by Shakyamuni Buddha—the Fundamental Theravada, the Exoteric Mahayana, and the Esoteric Vajrayana. It currently consists of a Dharma Division that is devoted to propagating the correct dharma that can liberate living beings. Its activities include special classes, retreats, and educational programs held at Sanger and its related facilities. There is also a Facilities Division that is developing a network of affiliated dharma centers, institutes, temples, and retreat centers where people can learn and practice the correct dharma. Rinpoche serves as spiritual advisor to these facilities. The Institute's Translation Division is devoted to making the teachings of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III accessible to non-Chinese speaking people. Currently the Institute is recording preliminary translations of certain discourses given by His Holiness that will be available at the various dharma centers and temples supported by the Institute. The Xuanfa Institute is located halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles and at the gateway to Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National Parks at 11507 East Ashlan Avenue, Sanger, California. Click for a current schedule of events and directions. The institute is temporarily operating out of the rinpoche's home. Plans are underway to convert the residence and surrounding land to a temple and retreat center.
