Ksitigarbha Dharma Assembly Held at Hua Zang Si

August 28, 2005: The Shakyamuni Buddha Hall at Hua Zang Si in San Francisco was full as lay and monastic practitioners attended the Ksitigarbha Dharma Assembly and ritual for the transmigration of the deceased and to receive blessings. Others watched the ceremonies on very large closed circuit TV screens in the Amitabha Buddha Hall upstairs. Chief Rinpoche Akou Lamo began the ceremony by practicing the Dharma in Tibetan. The nuns from the temple and others in attendance chanted the entire Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Sutra and read the names of the deceased and those requesting blessings. Abbess Long Hui Fa Shi concluded the ceremony with a short discourse explaining the tradition.
