Nectar Manifests at Hua Zang Si
June 21 & 22, 2008, SAN FRANCISCO: Many auspicious events occurred in conjunction with the ceremonies at Hua Zang Si sponsored by the International Buddhism Sangha Association to formally and respectfully receive the book H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. A few days before the ceremony and immediately after the banner informing the public of the ceremony was installed over the entrance to Hua Zang Si, many witnessed a magnificent Buddha light. The light could be seen as far away as Davis, California--85 miles away. Immediately after the ceremony the holy magnolia tree in the courtyard of the temple that had manifested nectar in 2002 while H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III sat beneath it started raining nectar again. The courtyard is fairly small and the crowd was quite large. It would seem that not everyone would be able to experience this holy event. However, a second tree in front of the temple also began manifesting rain so as to allow even more of the thousand or so participants to experience its blessings.
The following day, after a planning meeting of the team preparing to start the Dharma Propagation Tour to introduce the book H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to the USA, the tree began manifesting nectar again as the Tour team and others stood beneath it, marking a most auspicious start of the tour. Very early that morning disciples had gathered at the temple to hear Zhaxi Zhuoma Rinpoche read a discourse that His Holiness had given in 2002 after the Holy Magnolia Tree manifested nectar. These students remembered the scolding that His Holiness had given those who saw the nectar rain in 2002 for their ignorance concerning the causes and conditions of the event. Like the raining of nectar in 2002 and other times, the nectar did not come from the tree. It appeared through the branches. The tree itself was not wet. It came as a result of the blessings of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and was related to the events of this weekend. In 2002 in this discourse His Holiness said, "Such a manifestation of the Buddha-dharma, such a holy cause is not a karmic condition that came out of nothing. It certainly signifies a great karmic condition relating to the Buddha-dharma. It signifies that the true dharma of the Tathagatas exists. That is what enabled its manifestation. Such an occurrence is extremely rare in history." The nectar continued to fall for two days and two nights to mark this auspicious occasion. A DVD was made documenting this event.
