July 2-5, 2009: An intensive weekend of listening to translations of dharma discourses by Dorje Chang Buddha III and cultivation at the Xuanfa Temple was held with a side trip to celebrate the Fourth at nearby Yosemite National Park. Dharma Duck, the temple's guardian, insisted on attending the discourses as well.
April 17-19, 2009: Classes were held on recent translations of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III's 2008 Trip to the East Discourses. The students also attended the Bathing of the Buddha Dharma Assembly held at the Fresno Branch of Hua Zang Si. They continued their work in beautifying the temple including installing a lotus pond in the front garden.
March 27-29, 2009: Students returned to the Xuanfa Institute to listen to various discourses including "What Is My Sect?" and worked very hard installing a water lily pond, separating the roses from the weeds and cleaning the temple. On Monday a refuge ceremony was held and additional discourses read.
